Brisbane Basketball was first established through the tireless work of Dr Ivor Burge who is considered one of the legends of Basketball in Australia. In 2011, Brisbane Basketball endured the January floods and in doing so brought new life and energy back to the great sport of basketball in Brisbane. Based out of the newly named NAB Stadium, formerly known as Vince Hickey Stadium, Brisbane Basketball operates junior and senior competitions everyday of the week and caters to the needs of over 3000 members. As part of the flood relief from the QLD State Government and Brisbane City Council in addition to the support of NAB Brisbane Basketball has continued to grow and its outlook for the future is promising.
In 2015-16 Brisbane Basketball is proudly represented by:
26 State League Teams
Brisbane Capitals (QBL Men & Women)
Brisbane Capitals (SBL Men & Women)
Brisbane Junior Capitals (22 x Junior Boys & Girls Teams)
Brisbane Basketball Incorporated also provides basketball competition to approximately 400 domestic teams on a weekly basis, ranging from Under 9 through to Veteran divisions, making it one of the largest basketball associations in Queensland.
Throughout Australia, Brisbane Basketball is held in high regard with a number of our players going on to perform both at the national and international levels. Don’t just take our word for it – Now is the time for you to;
‘Experience Brisbane Basketball.’
