Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative Program is pleased to open registrations for male and female players born 2006 & 2007 interested in trialing for the 2018/19 Under 14 Representative Teams. Brisbane Basketball Inc. will nominate teams of 10 players for a GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE team in both the male and female competitions. Note: BRONZE team selections are based on player talent depth, available coaching expertise and practice venue availability.
Brisbane Capitals representative teams compete in the highest level of aged based basketball competition in Queensland. Including the Basketball Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (BQJBC) and State Championships. Players must be available to commit to the full season which includes the BQJBC season and State Championships.

KEY EVENTS & CONSIDERATIONS
BQJBC Grading: Early February (Saturday 2nd and/or 9th of February): Teams play 1 to 3 games in a mini-tournament.
BQJBC Season: Commences Term 1, and concludes Term 2, 2019: This is a weekly competition played across South East Queensland on a Saturday early afternoon.
State Championships – Females: July 10th – 13th (Mackay) This is a major tournament event where teams from all over Queensland compete.
State Championships – Males: June 30th – July 3rd (Townsville) This is a major tournament event where teams from all over Queensland compete.
Team Practice Session: Once teams are selected each team will practice twice per week during school terms (once on a Sunday and the second on an afternoon during the week – 4pm to 5.45pm). Both sessions are scheduled either at NAB Stadium or Lang Park PCYC. Teams may train during school holidays, however these are not weekly, and are scheduled to provide necessary holiday planning time for families.
Additional information on the commitment and expectations of representative players and teams will be discussed at various induction meetings during the trial process and is also included in the Team Selection Policy (link to which is provided after registration).
The Representative Program fee will be circa $850.00 exclusive of any State Championship costs. State Championship fee is currently being calculated and will be provided to the registered participants for their information prior to final team announcements.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (a link to the Team Selection Policy will be provided after registration)
Players are required to meet BBI eligibility requirements as outlined in the Junior rules –
3.2 Prerequisite for Brisbane Basketball Junior Capitals Representation
3.2.1 Any player who wishes to represent the Brisbane Basketball Junior Capitals in the representative season that commences after the Championship Season MUST:
- be registered with BBI and a BBI Club and playing in the BBJBC Championship Season within their correct Age Group as per the calendar year
- play a minimum of 50% of eligible games in the BBJBC Championship Season within their correct Age Group as per the calendar year
3.2.2 The ONLY exemption to Rule 3.2.1, which will also be assessed by the BBI General Manager, is when a player moves from a Queensland location outside a radius of 100 kilometre from the BBI office at Auchenflower, from a state outside of Queensland or from a country outside of Australia. If an exemption is granted the player must immediately join a BBI Club.
BQ PLAYER TRANSFER
Statement – BBI no longer accepts Permission-to-Train forms for players who represented a different association now considering selection to a Brisbane Capitals Rep Team. Players who last played for another Association MUST have a Full Transfer from their previous association Approved by BQ PRIOR to Attending the first Trial. If this approval is not completed and provided to the association prior to commencement of trials, the player will not be allowed to trial nor considered for selection. The penalty from Basketball Queensland to an Association for a breach of this rule is $200 and the player may be ineligible to play for any Association for up to 3 months. PLAYER TESTING & PARENT INDUCTION
Monday, November 12th and 19th. two player testing sessions will be held at NAB Stadium from 4.15pm – 5.30pm. These sessions are at NO COST to the players. The players will be taken through anthropometric, physiological and technical shooting tests, this is not a compulary session. Coinciding with each testing session will be a parent/guardian Brisbane Capitals Trial Induction Workshop. These workshops are designed to provide further details regarding the requirements of prospective Brisbane representative players throughout the season, including introduction to our player expectations, medical model, performance enhancement network and injury management.
All players attending trials with Brisbane are required to wear a Brisbane Capitals Reversible Singlet. If you do not have a Capitals Reversible Singlet, they are available for purchase through Hoop 2 Hoop at $30.00 each. Purchases will be delivered to the BBI Office at NAB Stadium by Friday each week, and a notification from Hoop 2 Hoop will advise when your package will arrive.

REPRESENTATIVE TRIAL EXEMPTION REQUESTS
Parents/Guardians, whose child is unable to attend one or all of the above trial events, but still wishes to be considered for selection, should complete a representative trial exemption request form (links below). For all exemption requests involving prolonged injury or illness please refer section 6C of the Team Selection Policy. Note: Approval of Exemption does not guarantee selection to a representative team.
